Casey Minton (left) receives a silver buckle from John Fulton, President of California's Lake County Rodeo Association. Minton was presented this buckle on Saturday, July 11th which noted his excellence as an "all around" cowboy within the rodeo circut.
Displayed near spectator seating was a photographic history of Lake County, compiled by one of the rodeo’s directors, Melinda Moranda. Showcased was the county’s old west history, including its contribution to Northern California’s cattle industry. The display also included old ranch brands, and other memorabilia as well. “Although we’ve started a great collection, we are especially in need of ranch brands and photos from Middletown. We want to show people (old west) Lake County, and feel it’s especially important for the children of this area to know the county’s history.”
In addition to the rodeo performances, the weekend events included an all horse parade through downtown Lakeport which was dedicated to Russ and Sandy Kennerly, performances by Clearlake Jr. Horseman Drill Team and the Diablo Ladies Drill Team, mutton busting, cowchip bingo, and ended Saturday evening with the band Lou Derr and Bootleg playing at the rodeo dance.
